Both John Dillon and International Paper have roots here in the Adirondacks, and share a passion for reaching out to the community. Because of that, we felt this was the perfect place to realize our vision for the first accessible Adirondack wilderness trail and facility in his honor," said John Faraci, International Paper chairman and chief executive officer at the park dedication ceremony on October 10, 2005.

John Dillon is a Paul Smith's College alumni, graduating in 1958. It is this connection that brought Paul Smith's College and International Paper together to build and then manage John Dillon Park.
